Blackberry Roadmap Reveals Plans For New OS
According to N4BB.com, the next version of the Blackberry OS is rumored to come out as soon as November of this year. I have high hopes that this new version of the mobile operating system will bring RIM back into the smartphone race with its recently acquired QNX technology. QNX will make its first debut inside the PlayBook, the new Blackberry tablet. Early reviews about the Playbook have been very positive due to its vibrant screen and great user experience. The PlayBook could very well compete with the Motorola Xoom and Apple’s iPad2 in the near future. Utilizing QNX technology into the newest Blackberry phones could give Blackberry a much-needed boost in the US mobile market…
But I’m still getting a Verizon iPhone 5 when (or if?) it comes out this summer. Why? Partly because of Apple’s app store that no competitor still has yet to match. Partly because Apple’s user interface will most likely be a pleasure to use since Apple takes usability more seriously (in my opinion) than any other company. And most definitely because RIM decided it was a good idea to add its BlackBerry Messenger product to iOS and Android devices in the future. BBM was the only thing holding me back from leaving BlackBerry, so this announcement has placed that angst at rest. I will be waiting for this summer to purchase my long awaited Verizon iPhone.
